Microblading

Microblading is a less invasive form of permanent makeup that uses a technique without using a machine, we use a disposable manual hand tool called a ‘microblade’. During this unique technique the pigment is implanted into the superficial dermis of the skin. Here at Karma Beauty, we use this method to enhance your eyebrows and lips

All of our  treatments are carried out by fully trained therapists

Microblading is a two-step process, usually four to six weeks apart. It is important to complete both the initial procedure and touch-up.

Step One

The initial procedure takes approximately two hours. We will complete a consultation together in which we will reach a desired look, we will choose a colour tone and draw the initial outline of the procedure area for your approval. Once you are satisfied with the shape and symmetry, numbing cream is applied to the area and the procedure begins using semi-permanent pigment.

Step Two

The second stage of the treatment is a touch up appointment that takes about an hour and is included in the price. Touch up appointments are between four and eight weeks after your initial treatment. Colour will fade significantly from the initial treatment as the skin heals and peels. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed strokes, colour tones and finishes the process.

Why microblading instead of tattooing?

The procedure is less painful and is done faster than with a machine, as the procedure is done by hand using a microblade
A very natural result is achieved
It does not look like a normal tattoo as hairs and lines are ‘drawn’ in a natural direction
Thicker, medical pigment is used, that does not change colour, but slowly fades instead
 Less trauma to the skin

Microblading – Eyebrows

The initial procedure takes approximately two hours. During the consultation we will reach a desired brow look, choose a colour tone and draw the initial outline of the procedure area for your approval. Once you are satisfied with the shape and symmetry, numbing cream is applied to the area and the procedure begins using semi-permanent pigment.

Hairstrokes

Together we will reach a desired brow look, choose a colour tone and draw the initial outline of the procedure area for your approval. Once you are happy with the shape and symmetry, numbing cream is applied to the area and the procedure begins using a semi-permanent pigment. This is followed by a touch up appointment four to eight weeks later.

Lip Aftercare Instructions

Aftercare Instructions

♥  3-4 times per day apply the aftercare ointment (Vitamin A&D cream) with clean, washed hands or with sterile Q-Tips.
♥  Do not get your lips wet for the next 5 days. This includes saunas, steam rooms/baths or sweat. Apply ointment before showering and avoid putting your face directly under the shower head.
♥ Avoid eating salty or spicy food for the next 5-7 days as this may sting the lips as they heal.
♥  Maintain moisture on your lips with the aftercare ointment. Re-apply regularly when lips feel dry or tight. Apply just enough product to moisten them, if they still visibly have product on, there is no need to apply more. Too much product will also cause the scab to lift prematurely and affect the healing process. So don’t over apply.
♥  Do not wipe off aftercare ointment from your lips. This can cause the scab to fall off prematurely. Let the ointment absorb into the skin.
♥  Do not pick, scratch or rub your scabs.
♥  Avoid facial cleansers or soap on brows until scab fall off. We recommend using wash cloths or face wipes to remove makeup and cleanse face, avoiding the micro bladed area.
♥  Do not wear lipstick until scabs have fallen off – usually up to 10 days.
♥  Avoid working out or sweating profusely until after 10 days. Salt in your sweat will draw your pigment.
♥  Sleep on your back! Rubbing your face on pillows may cause scabs to come off and produce patchy healing.

How long can I expect it to last?

The pigment used in microblading is semi-permanent and can last between one to three years. The pigment will begin to fade within 12 months. In order to keep it looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12 months to 24 months maximum. After two years, full price for microblading will apply. For clients that choose a softer look and lighter colour shade initially or those who did not follow the after care instructions properly may require more frequent touch ups.

Factors that will cause your microbladed brows or lips to fade faster:

 Iron deficiency
 Sun exposure
 Exfoliants
 Strong immune systems
 Exposure to salt water
 Smoking

Is semi-permanent make up deemed permanent?

Technically, semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, so it naturally fades over time.

Does the application hurt?

We take every precaution necessary to ensure the microblading procedure is as pain free as possible. A strong topical anaesthetic cream is used prior to and during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable while others report no discomfort at all.

How long is the recovery or healing time?

Immediately after your microblading procedure and in the first 10 days, your brows, eyes or lips will appear significantly darker and defined than perhaps your desired look. It may continue to get darker over the next few days as scabs begin to form, however this is not an accurate indication of the finished and healed result. 30-50% of your brow colour will fade as the scabs fall off within 7-10 days.

In some cases, the scabs may take longer to heal and fall off. Under no circumstances pick at the scabs. The pigment is within the scab and you do not want to pull any pigment out of your skin prematurely. We all heal differently and what works on one client may not be effective on another so please do not compare your results.

The complete healing process takes approximately 4-6 weeks.

How do you choose a colour?

We choose a colour together by applying small amounts of different coloured pigments to the skin near to your eyebrows, eyes or lips and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. As a rule of thumb, we closely match the colour of your brow hair and your lips for the most natural results.

What types of pigments do you use?

We use iron oxide pigments that will fade over time and are naturally absorbed by the skin. Iron oxides are innocuous, harmless and perfectly safe for your skin.

Can you micro blade over an existing tattoo?

Microblading can be done over an existing tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the strokes to show through and look natural. Please advise if you have an existing tattoo and submit a picture to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.

Will it look fake?

No, Microblading is one of the most natural semi-permanent makeup, it is done using a cosmetic tattooing process and our pigmentation artistry guarantees soft, natural looking results. When we implant semi-permanent makeup pigment in the skin, it appears more natural looking than topically applied cosmetics.

Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding. This depends on the client. If you take blood thinners on a daily basis, then some slight bleeding may occur. Bruising is rare but can occur. There is usually some tenderness for a few days.
